If you know how to do it right, in just 2 minutes, you can do a free search on Google to find (or figure out) nearly anyone’s business email address. Here’s how:
Once you have a person’s first and last names there is an easy strategy you can use to find that person’s business email address.
Let’s find the email address for this person (last name hidden for privacy):
Step 1: Determine the Web address for the person’s current employer.
To identify the primary Web address for a person’s current employer, simply conduct a Google search on the name of his or her employer. (Be sure to put quotation marks around any company name that has two or more words.)
For our example search for The Blackstone Group, we can see the company’s web address is www.blackstone.com. (See the green arrow in the next image.)
Step 2: Identify the company’s standard format for its company email addresses.
Most companies use a standard email address format, such as:
FirstNameLastName@companyname.com
FirstInitialLastName@companyname.com
LastNameFirstInitial@companyname.com
You can identify a company’s standard email format by typing email and @companywebaddress.com into the Google search bar (see image below).
Simply look through the search results to find the company’s email format (see green arrows in the above image.)
Step 3: Determine the likely email address.
In our sample case, we can see that Blackstone Group uses the email format:
Firstname.Lastname@blackstone.com
With the company’s email format and the person’s first and last name, you can now identify the likely email address.
Remember, if you can’t find a person’s email address using these Google search strategies, you may be able to buy it inexpensively by using www.jigsaw.com. Or you may be able to get the person’s email address for free by calling the employer and simply asking for the information.
If all else fails, you can pay to use LinkedIn’s Inmail system to contact a person without needing his or her contact information.
